Avi M. reached out to Yad Sarah to help his ailing mother and father-in-law in Petah Tikvah. He said they were exhibiting early symptoms of coronavirus and were desperate for an oxygen concentrator to help them breathe.
Yad Sarah is getting a lot of calls from people like Avi as the total number of confirmed infections in Israel surpasses 325. This need became critical on Sunday, March 15th, when the Israeli government announced that many stores, schools and other services would shut down, making it even harder to get items delivered.
In response, Yad Sarah has established a new service, The Coronavirus Hotline and Emergency Equipment Program. Open from 8am to 5pm daily, callers can quickly arrange for an emergency loan of medical equipment, in Hebrew or English. Within 24 hours, a dedicated mobile unit staffed by volunteers with protective clothing delivers the equipment, leaving it directly outside the home for those in quarantine.
Avi's elderly relatives are now breathing easier thanks to the oxygen concentrator that Yad Sarah has delivered—and our service is set to aid tens of thousands more. After all, it's our mission to bring help and hope to the people of Israel—no matter what.
