A native of the UK, Martin retired and moved to Israel, making his new home in Tirat Yehuda, a small city between Tel Aviv and Modiin. Now age 80, Martin took a walk in a garden in Jerusalem when he tripped over a tree branch and broke his ankle. He went to Tel Hashomer Hospital, where doctors determined he needed surgery to fuse the fracture.
After a successful operation, Martin was ready for discharge and was advised to get a wheelchair and electric scooter because he could not put pressure on his foot. Eager to accept a discharge from the hospital on a Friday and return home for Shabbat, Martin's family contacted Yad Sarah's Lending Center at the Tirat Yehuda branch for help. Volunteers at the branch acted quickly and delivered a wheelchair and electric scooter directly to Martin's home.
This equipment was essential in Martin's recovery. He has fully healed and is deeply grateful to Yad Sarah for its timely support.
Yad Sarah's Lending Center is the organization's largest initiative. It offers more than 150 types of medical equipment—including wheelchairs, hospital beds, oxygen-concentrating machines, and more—all available for loan at a low or nominal cost. This service ensures that anyone in need receives the proper equipment for a quick recovery and helps prevent unnecessary hospital stays. Last year alone, Yad Sarah loaned more than 800,000 units of medical equipment for those in need throughout Israel. Yad Sarah is here to provide compassionate care to the people of Israel.
