A Meaningful Gift: Florida donors Support Yad Sarah's Hospitality Suites, helping to care for a hospitalized loved one

Last month, as Passover approached, the parents of a wounded soldier were staying at one of the hospitality suites in Yad Sarah's Ra'anana branch. They were determined to celebrate the Passover Seder with their son, who was recovering at Beit Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center.

After realizing he was not well enough to go home for the holiday, the family reached out to Yad Sarah to ensure that home would come to him instead.

The family lives just a 20-minute walk away, but a Seder isn't complete without grandparents—so with the help of Yad Sarah, the soldier's grandparents also stayed in the guest units for the night. A special hall was set up at Beit Loewenstein, and the family brought homemade dishes so that the soldier could feel at home through his recuperation.

The Hospitality Suites, a program offered by Yad Sarah, make it possible for families of inpatients at hospitals to stay nearby to visit, advocate for, and care for a loved one. This initiative reduces travel burdens and offers families a welcoming place to stay near their loved ones during illness and inpatient care.

Yad Sarah offers Hospitality Suites in Jerusalem, enabling families of patients at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem to stay close to their relatives receiving care at the hospital. In Beersheva, Hospitality Suites are within walking distance of Soroka Hospital, accommodating families of wounded soldiers across Israel. Hospitality Suites at the Yad Sarah branch in Ra'anana are near Beit Loewenstein, a long-term care and rehabilitation hospital.

In March, Yad Sarah welcomed a delegation from the Jewish Federation of Broward County of South Florida to dedicate two new Hospitality Suites at Yad Sarah House in memory of Jared Benjamin Bienenfeld.

During the visit, the Florida delegation toured the organization's headquarters and volunteered at Yad Sarah. "We are deeply impressed by the scope and impact of Yad Sarah's services," said Carol Lasek-Bienenfeld, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation.

During the war in Israel, Yad Sarah's Hospitality Suites are an ideal place for families of injured IDF soldiers to stay – especially when hotels were booked due to the widespread evacuations in Israel.

Betty Bruttman, a donor from Florida, gifted a hospitality suite in Beersheva in memory of her parents and brother.

"We wanted to give something physical and meaningful," shared Betty. "We knew it would be meaningful for injured soldiers treated at the hospital and for their family members who want to come see them."
