Yad Sarah is Saving Lives During Times of War

Nino Mechita is an older resident of Yeruham who relies on supplemental oxygen. At home, he uses an oxygen concentrator—a heavy piece of equipment that he can’t transport on his own.

When sirens sounded to alert individuals of strikes from Iran, Nino faced an impossible dilemma: remain in his apartment without protection, or rush to a shelter without the oxygen concentrator he needs to breathe.

Nino contacted the Yeruham Local Council’s emergency help line for support. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Council reached out to Yad Sarah.

Yad Sarah volunteers sprang into action, arriving at Nino’s home with a full oxygen tank and a small pull-behind cart to transport it. Now, when the sirens sound, Nino can make his way safely to the public shelter with the oxygen he depends on.

Many Yad Sarah branches across Israel remain open under Home Front Command guidelines. Our 7,500 trained volunteers are working around the clock to ensure individuals receive life-saving services amid ongoing attacks. From sustaining an emergency call center to increased home hospital equipment lending, Yad Sarah’s wide-ranging services are helping thousands of people remain safe during this difficult time.
