“Miriam”, a mother living in Yeruham, watched helplessly as her 4-year-old son with a broken leg was struggling to use crutches to move independently. The pain was hindering his recovery, her husband was away on army reserve duty, and she did not know how to best support her son.

“Miriam’s” husband was returning soon, and the family had planned a vacation abroad to spend time together after many months apart. But with her son’s condition, the “Miriam” wasn’t sure if the vacation would be possible.

Feeling defeated, she contacted Yad Sarah.

Leah Palmer, manager of Yad Sarah’s Yeruham branch, answered the call.  She and her husband, Gilad, immediately grabbed a child-sized knee scooter at the branch and adjusted it to fit “Miriam’s” child comfortably. The scooter provided greater stability and required less upper-body strength, which allowed the boy to move with ease. The family could now look forward to traveling comfortably together—a small solution that made a big difference in their lives.

Yad Sarah’s Lending Center offers more than 150 types of medical equipment to meet the rehabilitation needs of people of all ages. Volunteers assist families in selecting the medical equipment that best suits their child’s size, enabling them to recover comfortably.
