Explore Israel with Ease: Yad Sarah's Tourist Support

Traveling internationally comes with challenges for older adults who rely on wheelchairs.

Michaël Eitjeis, 85, lives in the Netherlands and relies on a wheelchair. When Michaël received the news that his grandson Uriel Weisz was getting married in Israel, he questioned whether he could manage the international travel. His trip would be exhausting and present many logistical hurdles, but Michaël's desire to be part of this family celebration outweighed the concerns.

Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Michaël received a wheelchair from Yad Sarah to use for the duration of his stay in Israel. Having equipment ready immediately after a long flight was such a relief and allowed him to move comfortably and safely.

Using the Yad Sarah wheelchair, Michaël was able to attend the wedding in the Judean Hills, participate in the aufruf—a pre-wedding celebration—in Jerusalem's Yemin Moshe neighborhood, and celebrate with friends and family at Park HaMesila in Tel Aviv.

"It was so special having my grandfather at my aufruf and wedding, all the way from Amsterdam," said Uriel. "Yad Sarah made the process so easy and seamless, and the wheelchair we arranged through them was such good quality—it really let him enjoy every moment with us."

Before returning to the Netherlands, Michaël also enjoyed exploring Jerusalem with ease.
