Yad Sarah Brings More than Dental Care to Homebound Older Adults

A 57-year-old woman named D. was experiencing severe tooth pain. Her teeth had deteriorated to the point that eating had become nearly impossible, which left her weak and malnourished. Not knowing where to begin asking for help, she reached out to Yad Sarah.

When Yad Sarah's Mobile Dental Clinic team arrived, they discovered heartbreaking conditions. The D.'s home was nearly inaccessible for even the simplest daily movements or activities.

Despite the challenges, our team of dentists did not turn away. Equipped with protective gear, masks, and gowns, they entered her home and began treatment. What they offered was more than medical care—they provided compassion, respect, and the reassurance that she was not alone.

Since then, D. has continued to use Yad Sarah's services. She is part of our loneliness prevention program and regularly speaks with a Yad Sarah volunteer for advice, reassurance, or simply for someone to talk to. Rarely does a week pass without a call.

Yad Sarah's Mobile Dental Clinic brings professional dental care directly to the homes of those who need it most, including homebound or disabled individuals who have trouble reaching a dentist or cannot afford one. Our team is staffed with volunteers and dentists and provides a full range of care, from treating gum problems and fitting prosthetics to restorations and more. When needed, we also connect patients with oral surgeons and periodontists.
