When Laura Ben-David, a renowned photographer, writer, and devoted advocate for Israel, faced the battle of her life with ovarian cancer, Yad Sarah provided her and her family with an invaluable gift: the ability to live her final months with dignity, comfort, and freedom.

Throughout her life, Laura was known for capturing stories of hope, resilience, and dignity. In her final chapter, Yad Sarah's compassion brought those qualities to her own experience. As Laura grew weaker, Yad Sarah provided essential equipment—a walker, then a wheelchair and chair lift—which allowed her to maintain a sense of normalcy and independence. Yad Sarah's services enabled Laura to continue living with comfort and freedom.

Amy Gottlieb, Laura's sister, described how transformative this support was: "When my sister was growing weaker from her cancer, Yad Sarah gave her the gift of remaining in the comfort of her own home," said Amy. "Living in a building that had many stairs made it difficult for her to come and go, making her feel stuck in her own home until Yad Sarah arrived with a chair lift. Suddenly, she was free—free to move about, to have adventures, and to savor the precious time she had left."

Laura's legacy of storytelling was rooted in her belief in the power of empathy and community. Fittingly, Yad Sarah's care reflected the very compassion Laura spent her life highlighting in others.

Her journey with Yad Sarah is emblematic of countless stories where dignity is preserved and lives are uplifted by the organization's unwavering commitment to care.

From hospital beds to oxygen concentrators, Yad Sarah's lending center offers more than 150 types of medical equipment. This wide range of equipment ensures that individuals have the necessary equipment to reduce prolonged hospital stays and make home rehabilitation possible. Patients can continue recovering in a familiar environment while enjoying frequent visits from friends, family, and neighbors.

"We will always be grateful to Yad Sarah for everything they did for her," said Amy.

Thanks to Yad Sarah, Laura spent her final days at home with loved ones and a sense of normalcy. Laura's story is not unique. Every year, thousands of people across Israel rely on Yad Sarah in moments of vulnerability.
